Scotland has the greatest percentage of redheads in the world per head of population.  Scientists now believe it’s a rogue gene that creates red hair.

Catriona MacPhee was born with ginger hair and in this film she takes us inside the ginger world. It’s an emotional journey but also a social and cultural journey into what it means to have red hair in today’s world. It’s heart warming and entertaining as we delve into so many different areas: discrimination, bullying, appearance, psychology, science and genetics and self confidence.  There’s a whole host of people who want to be red and proud.

Madame Ecosse on BBC ALBA

Madame Ecosse our intimate but hard-hitting film about Winnie Ewing will be broadcast on BBC ALBA on Monday 13 April at 9pm on Tuesday 14th April at 10pm which is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.for BBC ALBA. The film reveals exclusive footage of Winnie Ewing pre-Hamilton era and her unseen personal photographic archive.

After five decades in politics spent in three parliaments, Westminster, Europe where she earned her nickname Madame Ecosse and the Scottish Parliament, Winnie has been hailed as a nationalist heroine who is loved by some and loathed by others.

So how did this lawyer become the Grand Dame of Scottish politics and why are we still coming to terms with the effects of her win at Hamilton?
